How to fit in with the Kiwis when you visit Rotorua
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]As a tour guide, I meet many different people from all corners of the globe and one thing that I have learned over the years is that us Kiwis are weird!! We do seemingly normal things in weird ways, we talk strange and quite frankly our laid-back attitude seems to confuse people when they visit Rotorua. I’ve compiled a small guide to ensure that when you visit Rotorua you can blend in with all the other Kiwis.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Making Friends
When you arrive in Rotorua you may be greeted in several different ways. The best part? Pretty much all of them mean the same thing! Just to be confusing you might hear; Kia Ora, hi, hello, chur, hey, sup, sup bro, chur bro or something like these. If you hear anything along those lines just reply with ‘Hi.’ From there you’ll likely find that whoever you are talking to will quickly become very friendly to you. One thing I want you to realise when you visit Rotorua is that we LOVE tourists and we are more than willing to give up time to chat. Many people will be excited to show you what New Zealand has to offer as well. My suggestion? Talk to as many people as possible and you’ll wind up finding parts of New Zealand that you may not have even heard about otherwise. Don’t worry about making mistakes with your English, if you try then Kiwis will appreciate it!
