Enjoy Rotorua’s rich cultural history and natural beauty with Rotorua Duck Tours and Whakarewarewa
Rotorua is most famous for its geothermal wonders, rich cultural history, heritage and spectacular lakes and volcanoes. The Maori were the first to journey to this land hundreds of years ago and their discoveries are still important to our lives today. This combo allows you to experience this journey for yourself and discover why our land was so important to the Maori and remains so today.
With Rotorua Duck Tours you’ll experience the wider Rotorua district as you ride from land to lake on New Zealand’s ONLY genuine WW2 landing crafts. Choose between two tours; our 90min City and Lakes Tour or our more in-depth 120min Tarawera and Lakes Eco-tour. Explore the lakes and learn the fascinating history of Rotorua while you learn and laugh along with our legendary ‘conducktors’.
Whakarewarewa – The Living Maori Village will bring the stories you’ve heard to life! Home to two sub-trimes, Maori have lived here for hundreds of years and ‘Whaka’ (as it is known by locals) is a real living community that’s steeped in heritage, culture and geothermal wonders. On arrival, enjoy a famous hangi pie and geothermally cooked corn then check out the world-famous Pōhutu Geyser, as well as explore the steaming pools, fumaroles and traditional carvings of the village. Join the guided tour and experience an engaging and interactive Māori cultural performance.
